February 10th 2018, Kelantan – Forest Interactive took part in MDEC Digital Tech Open Day @ Matriculation held at Kolej Matrikulasi Kelantan, an event spearheaded by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (MDEC), a program that aims to inspire young Malaysians to pursue tertiary courses leading to digital technology careers. MDEC invites industry experts to inspire students by means of knowledge-sharing by industry experts in the field of technology. Forest Interactive was represented by the Head of Department of Creative and Multimedia, Nurfathiyah Ramlee, where she shared the challenges and opportunities she experienced during nine years of working with the company.
Ramlee of Forest Interactive said: “Based on Malaysia Digital Statics, the current total population is 31.83 million and 79% of the total population uses the internet, while 75% are active media users[i]. Can you imagine the opportunities out there to create a creative digital platform? Challenge your creativity.”
To complete the digital experience, Forest Interactive distributed mini VR glasses as freebies to the attendees to let them experience a 360 VR video which was created exclusively for the event by the Creative & Multimedia department. The impact has proven to be powerful as one student would share: “before I attended this event, I didn’t know about VR. Now I knew it, I tried it.” Virtual Reality is a testament of how fast technology the way people look at things, in the past people were using printed advertorial, now in digital era we can let people feel our presence through VR glasses even from the comfort of your mobile phone (Damiani, Jesse: VR and AR, 2017).
